Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) is a tool used either to rank projects or to choose the most appropriate option, i.e. it is a key tool for evaluating welfare gains or losses from an action/investment. The ranking or decision is based on expected economic costs and benefits. Environmental impacts are crucial to consider the full welfare implications of a project.
We have extensive experience in conducting cost-benefit analyses, taking into consideration full economic costs and benefits, such as costs/benefits to the ecosystem services. We participate in the European Commission Common Implementation Strategy (EC CIS) working groups, such as Working Group on Programmes of Measures and Economic and Social Analysis for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (POMESA) and WG Economics for the Water Framework Directive, HELCOM Economic and Social Analysis (ESA) expert group and others.
